Updated from top to bottom, the Nike Pegasus 42 is a lively and highly versatile daily trainer for all runners from beginners to elites.
While its ReactX midsole foam is slightly lighter than before, its new full-length Air Zoom unit is the key highlight. Learning from the Pegasus Premium's Air unit, it improves on the Pegasus 41's separate units to deliver a smoother and more responsive experience. Altogether, this new midsole delivers over 15% more energy to your routine weekly runs and moderate tempo work.
While stack height and drop remain the same, the increased toe spring curvature enables a more propulsive toe-off and makes room for an extra 3 mm of foam under your toe tips. Coupled with a touch of additional width for your toes, you get better forefoot comfort, snappier transitions, and a connected-to-the-ground ride.
Maintaining that connection, an updated waffle outsole adds flex grooves and concentrates rubber coverage where it's most needed for reliable and durable grip. Around your foot, breathable engineered mesh creates that familiar Pegasus fit, complete with a plush tongue and soft internal lining for comfort. 3D printing adds light structure for containment, while the midfoot band creates security that disappears on your foot.
