The Mafate 5 is HOKA's trail running shoe made with long days and technical trails in mind. As the successor to the Mafate Speed 4,this version 5 updates focus on providing stability and impact absorption, especially over rugged, uneven ground.
The midsole features a new dual-density foam with a responsive, supercritical top layer and a softer base layer underneath. Sandwiched between the foams is a forefoot winglet plate. The result is a cushioned yet controlled ride that holds up over long distances and challenging ascents.
Underfoot, a Vibram Megagrip outsole with 5 mm lugs delivers dependable traction across wet rock, loose dirt, and steep technical sections. The upper uses a durable warp-knit mesh, treated to resist fraying and wear. It balances breathability and structure for a secure fit without added bulk.
