Born in Münster in 1991, Giulia started running at the age of 22 and came to the conclusion, that one sport wasn't enough, after meeting a young girl who inspired her and was training for her first middle distance triathlon. Since then, she entered in the triathlon sport, and became a passionate triathlete, competing every year in two or more races. In 2021, she finished her first long distance race, arriving 10th in her age group. Giulia trains about 15-20 hours a week and at the same time she has a full-time sales job.

The Love for Triathlon

Since 2016, Giulia has been motivated by triathlon. She explains where this enthusiasm comes from “I love the small moments in a race where I can connect with other athletes and all of a sudden, you are “in this together”, even only for some mile, for a short moment on the bike or after the swimming. It's so special to encourage people during a race and get encouraged when you feel the lowest yourself”. Giulia is deeply inspired by the professional athlete, Laura Phillip. “Laura Philip didn’t start triathlon until quite an old age which is unusual for this sport. She was never the sporty one in her early years. She inspires me with her talent and discipline but also with her “easy going” attitude" says Giulia.

The Run

The four-loop 42.2 km run course is set to the skyline of downtown Frankfurt. "I personally love the Bondi X. After very hard workout days it's the perfect shoe, with enough stability but still a little “ kick” from the carbon plate."

The HOKA One One Bondi X is designed to deliver the benefits of a carbon fibre plate to the daily training world. With a super-comfortable max-cushioned midsole that is enhanced with a rigid and stable carbon fibre plate, the Bondi X gives any runner a smooth and protective ride that can go the distance, and then some.

For the races, Giulia wears the Carbon X 3.

"The HOKA Carbon X 3 is my absolute favourite shoe.  For me it's the fastest to run at any event where you have to show your very best. I use the Carbon X 3 especially for fast intervals. It has perfect grip and support, and it pushes me to my very maximum."

The Carbon X line has been seen on podiums of some of the world’s most competitive marathons and ultra-marathons. Now in its third version, the Carbon X 3 sports an improved fit along with an even more performance-oriented cushioning system. Featuring an all new PROFLY X midsole compound, the Carbon X 3 gets a bouncy cushioning upgrade featuring HOKA's lightest and most responsive foam compound to date. New in this version is also the sleek engineered knit construction that provides a secure lockdown of the foot, while also feeling adaptable and breathable.

Relax: HOKA Clifton 8

For easy runs, Giulia uses the Clifton 8.

"The Clifton 8 is such a comfortable shoe. It keeps you stable but doesn’t push too much. It's helping me in those days where I just want to enjoy a slow run."

The HOKA ONE ONE Clifton 8 can handle any distance and has all the best qualities of a reliable daily trainer. The lightweight upper and well-cushioned midsole make this shoe a perfect everyday option for runners of all levels, from new runners to elite athletes.
