Packed with more foam underfoot, the Torrent 5 doesn't have a rock plate, opting instead to let the foam manage harsher impacts. This EVA midsole finds a reliable combination of lightweight control and responsiveness, ready to move as fast (or as slow) as desired. HOKA's classic MetaRocker curls up towards the front and back of the shoe to ease each transition as you roll forward, giving you special fluidity on downhill sections.
The upper is fortified with a protective rubber lining around the base of the shoe, matched with a breathable engineered mesh over the foot. Equipped with 5 mm outsole lugs of high-abrasion rubber, the Torrent has enough bite to manage technical terrain.
