What's New
The ASICS Nimbus 27 is all about taking plush comfort to the next level. This version gets an upgrade with the FF BLAST PLUS ECO midsole, which provides an even softer, lighter feel underfoot—and it's more eco-friendly too, with 24% bio-based materials. It's like running on clouds, but with a touch of bounce to keep things fun and smooth.
ASICS also added PureGEL technology in the heel to absorb impact, so you get that soft landing without feeling weighed down. The outsole features a new HYBRID ASICSGRIP rubber for better traction whether you're on pavement or hitting light trails. And let's not forget the updated engineered jacquard mesh upper, which feels more breathable and luxurious, wrapping your foot in comfort.
Whether you're running miles or just standing around, the Nimbus 27 is designed to give you premium comfort from top to bottom. It's softer, more durable, and ready to keep you feeling fresh for the long haul!
The Bottom Line
The ASICS Nimbus 27 is a solid option if comfort is your top priority. The upper feels soft and plush, and it offers a nice balance of stretch and support. Once you get the lacing dialed in, the lockdown is secure without creating hot spots, and there's plenty of room in the toe box for a comfortable fit.
The midsole is where the Nimbus 27 truly shines for long, easy miles. The shoe's FF BLAST PLUS ECO midsole and PureGEL heel insert provide the right mix of softness and bounce, making everyday running feel effortless. However, if you prefer a firmer or more responsive ride, this might not be your go-to shoe.
When it comes to durability, we were impressed by the outsole's traction and wear resistance. Despite fewer rubber overlays than previous versions, the shoe held up well across road and light trail surfaces. The grip was reliable even in wet conditions, making it a dependable option for varied terrain.
Overall, the ASICS Nimbus 27 is a dream for runners who want to sink into soft, cushioned comfort for daily miles. It's not the fastest shoe, but if plush, all-day comfort is what you crave, this shoe delivers.

Our In-Depth Look
Comparable Shoes
Saucony Triumph 22 vs. ASICS Gel Nimbus 27
Connor: "The Saucony Triumph 22 comes in at a near-identical weight, and while both are great for your easy days, the Nimbus 27 will feel much softer underfoot and has a little less energy return. The denser PWRRUNPB material in the Triumph provides a little more pep to your step and makes for a decent steady long run shoe."
Hoka Bondi 9 vs. ASICS Gel Nimbus 27
Torsten: "The ASICS Gel Nimbus 27 feels lighter and more responsive, which I appreciate for long runs when I still want a bit of agility. The cushioning is great, offering a balanced feel with the GEL technology, but it’s not as soft as the HOKA Bondi 9, which is perfect for me when I want maximum comfort and shock absorption. The Bondi 9 has an even softer ride, making it ideal for recovery runs or when I’m looking for something more cushioned. The fit of the Nimbus 27 feels more snug, while the Bondi 9 offers more space in the forefoot, which I find more comfortable for my feet. Overall, the Nimbus 27 is great for daily training, but if I need extra cushioning and protection, I prefer the Bondi 9."

Individual Thoughts
The Nimbus 27 strikes a nice balance between comfort and security. The lockdown is solid throughout but might take some time perfecting to avoid any foot numbness. Overall, the Nimbus 27 is a really solid daily trainer. The fit feels fairly standard with plenty of room throughout the shoe for my insole as well. The underfoot feel of the shoe is comfortable for easy, recovery, and long runs, though I would not suggest it for fast speed work due to its plushness.

As a higher mileage runner, I tend to find myself doing the bulk of my miles in shoes like the Nimbus 27 as it keeps my body feeling fresh day in and day out. Yes, it's a lot of shoe and at times can even feel a little bulky, but I don't wear this shoe for speed. On days when I know I'm going to pick up the pace, I'll choose something a little more versatile. But for easy days, recovery days, or long runs, the Nimbus 27 just feels effortless as I glide through the miles. Version 27 doesn't make any radical departures from the success of the past two versions but it continues to fine-tune the midsole softness, geometries, and fit to provide even more comfort for my long runs. The Nimbus has proven itself as a market leader and is a shoe I will continue to use for the bulk of my slower miles.

The ASICS Gel-Nimbus 27 is a solid shoe that offers good cushioning and stability for longer runs. The GEL technology in the heel provides comfortable cushioning and effectively absorbs shocks. Overall, the shoe feels light and responsive, making it a good choice for daily training. However, compared to other models, it could be a bit more flexible and offer an even softer ride. Compared to other shoes, I would say it's a very good shoe, but with room for improvement.
